Gold orchids on display in new exhibitWednesday, 5th October 2005 (4175 views) A new exhibition in California will be displaying the power of orchids through a wide range of artistic and scientific media. Some orchids will even be sculpted in gold. From October 15th to January 1st, the Huntington Library will show "Orchids: A Natural Obsession," an event that will impress anyone interested in orchids featured in art and science through the past 200 years. Notably, the Nax collection of gold orchids, sculpted entirely out of gold by artist Mickey Nax, will be on display. Mr Nax donated these pieces to Huntington in 1999. Kitty Connolly, the exhibit curator, told La Canada Valley Sun: "Visitors can approach the show from two different directions, through science and through art." Tickets cost $15, and are reduced for seniors, students, and children. Natrually, the event will be decorated with live orchids.
