Nanoparts unveils Neutral Gold kitsMonday, 11th December 2006 (4248 views) Nanoparts Inc has launched a new range of gold nanoparticles called Neutral Gold. The nanoparticles have a neutral charge and could help play a key role in a number of industries including the labelling of antibodies, antigens and DNA. In particular, the gold nanoparticles will provide distinct advantages for users, with the reduction of assay cross-talk and background fluorescence as well as limited the potential impact of salt, pH and temperature changes. Gold nanoparticles are popular in a number of sectors within the chemical, bioanalytical and biomedical sectors because of the high usability and the increased level of control over size and shape. Therefore Nanoparts is keen to establish standard protocols to enhance further uses as well as boosting research in the field. Nanoparts plans to offer four different versions of the unique kits with two aimed at customer conjugation, one for Streptavidin for labelling biotinylated DNA and one enabling BSA to be used as a tracer. The development of gold nanoparticle technology is being supported by the National Defense Center of Excellence for Research in Ocean Sciences (CEROS), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Institute of Health (NIH).
