A new product claims to provide scientists with an easy-to-use platform for attaching disease-fighting antibodies onto gold nanoparticles.

The Nanopartz Custom Antibody Conjugation applications are an effective and affordable method of carrying out this process, the company stated.

This practice is often used in medical treatment research for conditions such as cancer.

Nanopartz supplies "quality" gold nano products, including gold nanospheres and gold nanorods, for use in a wide range of disciplines.

Fields that they are used in include diagnostics, therapeutics, imaging, sensors, solar cells, electronics and optics.

The firm claimed that its rod-shaped gold nanoparticles are "highly desirable" for photothermal therapy, in-vitro diagnostics and biomedical imaging.

And it noted that its spherical products offer a "robust platform" for binding antibodies and DNA onto gold nanoparticles.

This week it was revealed that star-shaped gold nanoparticles are being tested at the National Institutes of Standards and Technology in the US.
