GOLD 2009, the 5th international conference on gold science, technology and its applicationsUniversity of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany The field of gold science and technology continues to undergo an exciting period of discovery. World Gold Council and the University of Heidelberg are pleased, therefore, to announce their co-organisation of the 5th international conference on gold science, technology and its applications. The conference will cover all aspects of the science, technology and applications of gold under the principal themes: * Catalysis Previous ConferencesWorld Gold Council is a lead organiser of a series of international events aimed at uncovering new industrial applications for gold. This series includes the successful and stimulating 'Catalytic Gold' conferences held in Cape Town, South Africa in April 2001 and 'New Industrial Applications for Gold' in Vancouver, Canada, in 2003 and builds on the more general meeting on 'Progress in the Science and Technology of Gold' which took place in Hanau, Germany in June 1996. The most recent and largest event, the 'Gold 2006' conference, took place in Limerick, Ireland in September 2006 and covered all aspects of the science, technology and applications of gold under four principal themes; Catalysis, Chemistry, Materials, and Nanotechnology. This conference was very successful with over 300 participants from over 30 countries. We believe that the gold R & D community needs a dedicated forum to discuss the latest advances in gold science and technology and to ensure that this new emerging science is brought to the attention of industry in order to encourage its commercial exploitation to the benefit of society.
